Need Valve adjustment help

Hi

I'm doing my first valve adjustment. I have both intake covers off. While removing the last nut from drivers side cover I notice the stud is spinning. I have not removed the passenger exhaust yet. Should I continue to try to back the stud out or stop now, reassemble & take to a shop?

Thanks

No biggie. It may happen to other studs too.

Take the stud with the nut. When out remove nut from stud. When done with everything at the end of valve adjustment clean the stud and the threads with alcohol put some thread lock and put stud back until feels snug(double nut technique works for this). Do not over torque.

Finish putting valve covers.

Stud is out, just backed out, not sheared. Moving to the passenger side.

Do as faverymi sez.....Clean up the stud nut......Install the stud with some blue lock-tite. That will ensure it stays behind next time.

Note that, when attaching the valve cover, the nuts on the outside have a fairly low torque spec. Overtightening when re-attaching the valve cover could cause leaks.

They should be about 8 ft/lbs.
