Blocking off Center Outside Vent
Has anyone done this? I was thinking of taking the carcass of the HVAC blower unit and modding it with a drain tub etc but I just don't need to do all of that just blocking off the vent is better.
I want to maintain the stock appearance so I am wondering what type of material is best to use in conjunction with the OEM mesh screen, that looks OEM and is water tight/resistant. Thanks -

What's the goal?
I removed everything associated with heat, vent and AC to reduce weight. I made a simple cover from aluminum sheet using the mesh as a template. The cover had a soft rubber backing to seal against the opening. In the summer I was dying from the heat out here in the desert, so I made an aluminum plenum to direct the air from the opening into the center vent. I was amazed how much more air flowed through my home made duct in comparison with the stock set up. If you like I can take pics later.

Pics would be great.
Everything is removed. Goal is to prevent water from getting into trunk.

I used the tube out of a bike tyre.
Cut it to size and shape, fits nice, water proof and can see its there....Black car ![]() Paul

Here is my block-off plate for use in the winter (below 60F!) and the plenum below the opening.
The design is basically a copy of a fiberglass part, Smart Racing I think, that was way expensive. ![]() Here you can see the drain fitting, but the hose is MIA ![]() This simple box gets lots of airflow, but in the summer I wanted more so squeezed one of those in-line blowers behind. ![]() Finally i had some mandrel bends lying around, so i made a nozzle... ![]() OK - what am I going to make today ;-)
