trying to awaken my 78 911 SC from its 13 year sleep

I recently bought a 78 911 sc that has been sitting since 2000. I have so far changed the oil and filter had the gas tank boiled out I installed a new fuel pump and filter and blew out all the fuel lines and installed a new battery. I was able to get the car to start but it would just die out. So with some advice I removed the fuel distributor and cleaned the shaft so that it would move freely up and down. Now that I have done that the car will fire up butt stumbles like its missing or starving for fuel and if you were to open the throttle up it would slowly rev up while still stumbling. I'm hoping maybe you guys can help me pin point this problem.

Thanks
Corey

Pull and clean the injectors? Check for air leaks too?

I would still suspect the fuel system, for one the FD. There are many small internal passages that get gummed up. Also the injectors would be suspect. Finally the wur could be affected as well. If these three are not right you will have problems.

Maybe a strong FI cleaner could clear it up.

You'll likely need to have the fuel dizzy and the WUR rebuilt. Also, does the Air Fuel Meter arm move up and down freely?

Corey,

You came to the right forum. Help is available and there are some guys that could direct to troubleshoot your '78 SC. But first, as a protocol, a new member must post pictures of his/her car as an introduction. Do it and you'll find more help coming to you.

Tony

Warm up Regulator. There is a CIS troubleshooting thread here but you need some tools to check things like fuel pressures and measure injector flow.. search is your friend

Thank you for that!

I have been going through everything I can find to figure out what the problem is.
I have isolated two cylinders that are not firing. The compression is good so that is not a issue there is spark so it has to be fuel. I removed the fuel line to the injector on the cylinder that is not firing with the key on I operated the fuel distributor manually the amount of fuel that came out of the line seemed to be more like a stream and not something that you would figure was under pressure. So I moved to another cylinder that I knew was firing and checked its fuel flow they both seemed to be equal. Also now that I have ran the car long enough to get it warm when I shut it off its hard to start where as before when it was cold it would fire right away. Now from what I have gathered here and correct me if Im wrong there is a injector right behind the throttle body that I understand to be the start injector?? Maybe I'm having problems with that but not sure. Also I posted pictures of my two 911s but they are waiting for approval from the moderator.

Thank you all for your help and advice.

Welcome to the forum and don't despair, your problems will be figured out. I also resurrected my '79 Sc from 16 years of hibernation. I would make sure all the fuel line passages out of, and into the tank are unobstructed from gunked-up old gasoline. That can be like syrup or a practically solid brown mass. Ask me how I know. Of course a new tank filter is probably necessary. Not too expensive, about $45.-.

Spent some more time today on it. I removed the lines going to the WUR cleaned them out also disconnected to plug and cleaned the contacts on it as well. Seems to run a little better and will idle somewhat now still not dialed in yet though.
