Personalized Plates arrived today!

so after 10 years, 300K on the clock and always wanting to personalize plates but just NEVER coming up with something that i really liked.

i FINALLY came up with one that i really like, ISNT obnoxious, kinda stealth, ONLY 911 lovers would really get it, but is crystal clear.

i got em today!

I was really shocked to see that it was still available but i got it especially with all the banter between all the air-cooled and new p-cars, but sure enough, there it was......

opinions, what do you guys think of this plate? (be nice)

I love it. Subtle vanity plates are the best kind. Of course, I would like it... I have a 993. :-)

300K !!!!! Man, you have '83 MB 300TD beat. It "only" has 219,000.
Anyways, there are 2 ideas I had for vanity plates. One is my log on name S2TGART, the other would RVO-VUM. Someone sees this in their rear view mirror, it would read MUV-OVR (move over) Of course this would only work if I actually mounted the front plate on my car.

That's very nice! Nobody will get that but the people that have to. It is almost cryptic for everyone else. That's good!

I can't believe that the DMV charges a yearly fee for personalized plates. Yes, to get it initially - custom made at folsom - it should cost money, but why would they charge yearly? There is no extra cost involved by storing a personaized number / letter combo over a regular? It should be even quicker to run it for the cops!

That's the reason why I never went for a personalized plate until I had to bite the bullet and take over a pretty lame blue plate from the PO on a 71 I bought last year. Retaining the blue plate is more important than the yearly fee, even if it is highway robbery!

What does everyone have to pay for personalized plates. Here in CT, it's $90 on top of you registration. I don't recall if there is an additional yearly fee.

You're lucky to have gotten the opportunity to pick your plate.

I was lucky (I guess) on the other hand of having a family with a sense of humor. They caught me watching old movies one night a few years ago and decided vanity plates would be a great XMAS present. When I first saw them I had to laugh and thought they would look nice on the garage wall but...

I was advised that they were real and my registration required me to immediatley put them on the car.....

I'm careful what I get caught watching from now on.....

$41 for bubba to make it at Folsom and another $30 a year for renewal. Some other states don't have renewal. They even charged me $41 for the transfer of an existing personalized plate. Doh!

I just went ot the CT DMW website and they have a feature where can type in your ideas for plates and it will tell you right away if it's available. I came up with another one, ATOBON. Here in CT we are limited to 6 letters or numbers or combo of both. Also numbers have to be seperated by a dot. "PREH20" is available here in CT, but it would have to look like this PREH-20.
