I have a 915 with LSD. Which transmission fluid?
I have a LSD on my 1985 Carrera.
I'm not trying to open the Kendall versus Swepco debate! I just want to know the exact product folks recommend for a 915 with LSD, from people who use either Kendall or Swepco. I have to change my transmission fluid in the coming weeks and I want to order exacly what I need--but I haven't decided on Kendall or Swepco. I'm reading all the good stuff about each via the handy search function on PP, and will make my decision and place my order soon. Thanks in advance. Lawrence |

Kendall 80W-90 GL-5 Gear Oil With LSD Additive (1 Quart)
http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=KEN-LSD-7745&catalog_description=Kendall%2080W-90%20GL-5%20Gear%20Oil%20With%20LSD%20Additive%20%281%20Qu art%29 My SC had Swepco in it when I bought it and I changed it last spring to Kendall and am very happy with it. I would compare the cold shifting to when the Swepco was warmed up and the warm shifting is much smoother. |

Lawrence,
the link above is for the Kendall....exactly the right Kendall.... as for the debate: I had a 996... I switched to Swepco (210)and the car was literally transformed - what an amazing difference. I never thought an oil would have any effect at all, let alone a profound effect. when I got my 3.2/915 it had just received a fresh flush and fill of the Swepco (201) - I was reluctant to change based on ly previous experience and the fact that it was fresh. After some time I opted to switch to Kendall and have to say without reservation - WOW!!! Kendall made a major improvement for my car....again I was shocked.... your results may vary but from what I have read, those willing to step out and try the Kendall dont go back to the Swepco

Kendall with LSD additive, per Will Hung above, works well for me. It is Peter Zimmerman's (the 915 guru) recommendation.

Swepco 201.....or Swepco 210 if you are on the track a lot in high temps with no trans cooler.

Question 1: What brand of LSD is in the car?
Question 2: How do you use this vehicle?

1) The LSD is the factory unit that came with the car when new (option 220, I think).
2) I use the car on the street, but may work up to a few DEs a year. Thanks. |

Kendall dino 80w/90 GL 5 is, in my opinion, the only way to go. You can buy the oil with LSD additive already added, or you can buy the additive separately.
