converting to electric windows
I know this is an old thread but for about $65 you can convert the manual windows to electric by using a kit you can buy from Amazon. The kit works great. You can install as I did in photos which doesn't require any cutting of the vinyl of the door panels so you can remove it if you aren't happy with the result. The kit comes complete with just about everything you need but really bad instructions. I plugged the holes from the old cranks with a 1.25 plastic sheet metal cap I drilled a hole in and used a car push fastener where the original screw for the handle was to hold it on. You could use the screw from the crank but it tends to unscrew itself as the window goes up and down.
Note that I had to cut out a small area of sheet metal on the inner door panel so that the gear that turns the crank could lie flat. My car is a 1977 911 targa and already had pre drilled holes in the car door and body since electric windows were clearly an option. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597194258.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597194258.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597194258.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1597194258.jpg |
