Exhaust combo advice sought and overdue intro

Hi Folks,

I've been lurking around here for around 2 years and am long overdue for an introduction post. Usually I can find what I need with the search tool but this is one I want to get right and have been getting stumped with finding good info on the combo I have.

First off, the car is a 76 Carrera3.0 that I got back in 2010 to do a complete restoration. The pics below are: 1.the before 2.somewhere along the way 3.the latest one I have ( though it too is a bit dated as the interior is all just about done and the newly revived Fuchs aren't in this pic. Just to give you an idea of where I've been. Maybe I should do one of those restoration threads but I guess I'm just lazy like that. I've pretty much done everything imaginable and am convinced I've lost my mind along the way.

So my question is what are we thinking is the best muffler for this setup? It's a 3.0 with Webbers, Cams, JEs, and a little head work. I am doing SSIs. I'm building this thing to be driven pretty close to a daily driver but will see some track duty here and there as I won't be able to resist. Sold my real race car due to having a baby on the way but this car will keep me satisfied. I'm sold on a 2 in 1 out due to the drone issue but beyond that I can't figure out which one. Thought I wanted the B&B but there seems to be a lot of opinions here pointing towards the M&Ks and Bursch as well as a few others I've seen listed I didn't recognize. Plus I just keep reading about QC concerns on the B&B but some of those posts were a number of years old.

My criteria is of course good sound but still being able to hear myself think when no knee deep in the throttle (and I'm dyna-matted out the wazoo already) but also something that will of course be up high on the performance factor. I'll give up sound issues for performance to a degree. I'm in GA so I am going without cats if that helps. I do want to keep my heat so that's why the SSIs and not headers.

So let me know what you think. Thanks!

Flowmaster 80 Series. Super light (12lbs), inexpensive, easy fitment and install.
Turn it up for the better detail:

I have a m&k 2 in 1 out and it sounds nice. It is loud with a nice note but not annoying.

HWM-my Flo-Pro is similar in build to a FM. It's a 1in/2out with 1 outlet capped like yours but I think the pitch is a bit higher.
I love the sound and have had many compliments.

Good stuff guys. Thanks.

Enzo thanks for the kind words.

Hotwater- hows that thing sound when you are just rolling along and don't have your foot in it? Sounds great on the gas but if it always sounds that loud it might be a tad more than I'm looking for. That FP was good too. Hell, they are all good. The answer I am seeing so far is that no one is actually recommending the B&B I was looking at. That might be quite telling...

enzo-Mine is a V-Force( part#V17) but it looks like they changed their #s since mine was bought.

It's for a 93-02 Camaro/Firebird. 2.5 inch inlet w dual 2.5 outlets. As I posted, I had the passenger's side outlet welded shut. Part # V42583 now.

I think I paid around $70 for it at a local speed shop.

You could probably get a nice used one on EBAY for much less.

I'm going to suggest something out of the ordinary. Dansk 2in/1out. I have one on my SC with SSI's and I love it. Well made, no fitment issues, and you only hear it when you are accelerating or decelerating the engine, otherwise it's pretty quiet.

Nice car by the way.

Thanks Hung. I was wondering about that Dansk combo too. Didn't see it for sale with our host so it slipped my mind here. But quiet until you are giving it the beans is ideally what I am looking for. I've seen a couple of sound clips on you tube for your set up but would you happen to have one from yours from inside the car? I'm pulling the trigger on all this today.

I don't have any sound clips of it from inside. If it were nice outside and my foot wasn't injured, I'd take it out to record it. I can say that I have no sound deadening in my car and my wife doesn't complain about the noise while driving. The only time she has complained was once she was on the phone while I was driving. I downshifted and went to pass somebody and she started yelling into the phone and then asked to hold on for a moment until the revs came back down and then she could talk again.

thanks for all of your opinions guys. I went with an M&K 2/2 today. It has the ability to cap off one side if its too loud. That flo pro sounded great too but I couldn't find anything that was a 2 in on their site.
