Drop Engine - To Do List ??

Help me out. I did my first engine drop on my 911 and have a lengthy "while I am in there" list but want to make sure I do not miss anything. I am doing my share of engine and compartment detailing along with the following. Anything I missed let me know.
> Clutch
> Valve Adjustment
> Oil Leaks
> Fuel Filter

What am I missing? Thanks

The trinity: Oil Breather Gasket, Idiot oil light switch, Termostat Oring

Heck, a new Fuel Pressure Regulator, it is biotch in the car, almost impossible to get the proper torque.

Fuel lines?

DRACO A5OG 01-27-2012 07:27 PM

Clutch?

Throw Out Bearing, Guide Tube and don't forget the SEAL
Pilot Bearing
Fork

Gear Lube while she is sitting level.

Speed and reference sensors?

Compartment sound mat.

Does your year have the "spider" air injection from the air pump? Good time to remove all that and plug the ports.
Intake gaskets
Detail fan, fan housing and valve covers.

You'll find plenty when you drop it. My original clutch replacement cost me almost $2k in parts.

Vacuum hoses..

+1 vacuum hoses
+1000 fuel lines

any rubber part should be replaced at this point

also, inspect the throttle cable and linkage to ensure you're getting full throttle. might as well lube the mechanical linkage as well.

Clean the engine compartment/engine and paint things if you like. Engine/tranny mounts if need be.

How are your rear shocks, bushings, etc...? A lot easier to do with the engine out.

efhughes3 01-28-2012 02:06 PM

Banana arm bushings too. Another plug for Elephant and their monoballs.

do a search on engine + drop + list to find the other threads - do it while the engine is already out so it can be added to this list...

Pick yer poison from the list of things I did "while I was in there".http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...eys/spankA.gif

Took her out for a nice cruise today in the 50 deg Oregon sunshine and she's running great.
