Help to ID this LSD (G50?)

Hi everyone,

I got this LSD along with my G50/00 when I bought it. As the box has just come out, I am considering getting it fitted.

Can anybody identify what diff it is and if it's any good? There are some serial numbers on it but nothing that rings any bells with me.

For info, the friction discs all measure 2.62mm and the 'stack' requires 2.5mm compression to bolt down. Easy enough to rebuild?

Cheers for any help!
Rich

It's an asymmetric lsd probably from a g50/10(964RS) or g50/52(964t)

Thanks Bill, is there any way to confirm?

Numbers that are on the diff are:
40610065532314369S20
Also marked on by hand: AZ,5100 A.S
There are only 2 set screws holding the two halves together too whereas most others I've seen while researching have 3 if that helps too?

Rich

The ramp angles look correct for a 964 LSD which would have originally been fitted in a G50.03/04/05/10/52

The power ramp appears quite shallow whilst the coast ramp shows that the diff will completely unlock on a trailing throttle.

The 964 G50 LSD has 20/100 degree power and coast ramps.

I am not sure what ramp angles were used in the G50.00 but they could well be the same.

It would also seem as if all G50 LSDs were held together with 2 x set screws.

The ramp angles are what I was looking at, they are extreme, which is why I think the lsd from a g50/10 used in 964RS or g50/52 used in 964t. These were nominally rated 20/100. These lsd's are 4 disk versions

The asymmetric 20/100 was only used in the /10 & /52, the g50/03,04,&05 used in the normal 964s was a symmetric 40/40, 2 disk unit w/ 30* ramps on both sides.

Porsche Motorsports lsds used in 993RS & RSR are 40/65 4 plate units w/ 50*/37.5* ramps

I put it back together and fitted some drive flanges to it. The 'slip' torque (preload?) required is about 60ftlbs on my torque wrench, which is about 80Nm. Does that sound about right? I think the friction discs are in fairly good condition. I'm half tempted to try fitting it myself!
