Code in Door Frame

On my '69 S driver's side door frame, up near the hinges, there is a plate with the code 68-6806-G stamped in it. What does this number signify?

Porsche Crest

Paint code plate ... decodes as 1968, Irish green, Glasurit brand paint.

Hmmmm.... Interesting. I'll have to check into this further.

First, it's a '69 model year. VIN #, engine, tranny all match, not to mention flared fenders, and other goodies. Maybe the '68 is actual year built

Second, it is currently grand prix white, quality respray, although not bare metal. Where you can see the old paint, it's ivory. Maybe it had a bare metal respray to ivory, eventually repainted to grand prix white? Since I've had the car 15 years, I wonder why it had so much painting in it's first 17 years of life?

Better get the Porsche birth certificate. If it was meant to be Irish Green, I might start saving for bare metal repaint back to original. I love Irish Green esses.

I always wondered about the original color and assumed it was ivory. Glad I asked....

It just didn't make any sense to me that there were no remnants of the green left, so I went out and looked at the plate again. Sure, enough "68-6804-G," not the 6806 I posted earlier. "Light Ivory."

Mystery solved. Thanks for the info, everyone, and sorry for the confusion.
