Tire carrier - roof top or trailer?
Hmmm,
I am thinking (prepairing) to go to more track events this year. I have track tires. I remember seeing Jack's tire carrier, but I am not able to find it. OR Should I get a mini trailer? Where can one get either a roof rack (e-gad, sounds like a SUV), or a mini trailer? I think I can get at least two of the tires in the car, maybe three. So a roof rack seems more desireable. Suggestions? Anyone selling one? TIA

I would opt for the small trailer myself.
It gives you a place to carry tools and spare parts as well. If fuel milage is a concern....the trailer is the way to go. Keeping frontal size down by using the traileris the reason. I would check out small enclosed trailers so that your road tires and tools don't end up in someone else's back seat or roof rack! Bob

The downside to the little trailer is that your legal speed limit drops to 55 mph on freeways, which makes for expensive tickets. Of course, tires on the roof do impact your gas mileage, which also costs.
See this thread for the recent discussion of carriers.
