Seeking advice on an exhaust, opinions welcome
I would to install a cat back exhaust on my 1978 SC 3.0 along with a cat bypass pipe. I have been leaning towards the B&B system as I want to go from the single that I have to a nice 4.5 double. Any thoughts guys???

Are you saying that a 1978 does not have a cat?

Mine didn't. It had a hollow pre muffler that looks a lot like a cat.
I think the cat was added in '80 for California and later for rest of US. Check what is on yours and you may just want to put on a muffler. I backdated to SSI's and a 2 in one out muffler. The car had a stock exhaust with a turbo muffler. ( Too Loud bad sound ). I wanted the SSI's for the flow and I stayed reasonably quiet with my cheap $150 muffler choice for the NOT CHEAP SSI's. ![]() Pelican Parts - Product Information: PEL-903080

I do have a cat and I will need a system with one in and 2 out. I guess there were different mufflers for different States.

I previously had the B&B system. The heat exchangers were fine but the muffler was an absolute piece of crap (developed cracks). A very annoying resonance was present at certain RPM's. The system was way too loud for my liking (as well as my neighbors). I replaced mine with the original SC exhaust (heat exchangers and muffler) and love it. System originally cost $2,500 and I sold it here for $600 with the full disclaimer of my thoughts/experience with this system. I have read here that others are pleased with their B&B purchases but I honestly would never consider anything else named 'B&B'. Poor customer service... no response to questions regarding the B&B-provided exhaust straps (broken). In my opinion, I would look elsewhere for a better quality and better sounding system.

The SSI's and a Dansk 2in/1out is leaps and bounds more superior to the oem single exhaust my 79 euro had. It just sounds so much better, the power band is much smoother in the mid range, the power is much better at the top end, the heat is pronominal, and the sound, have I mentioned the sound? It's the way Porsche intended it to be.
