Not sure if anyone is making new ones any more. Might be able to get one from the classifieds. I picked one up there. Made by Webb designs.
Finally, back in the game!

It would be a fairly monumental task to "ditch the stock airbox" on a CIS SC. The airbox on an SC is an integral part of the injection system.
Why do you want to do that? |

Just thinking that there must be something better looking out there, and something that might have better performance. A friend who has the same car removed the top of the airbox and simply strapped on a KN filter and says it made a difference.

Everything I've read says the stock air box on a CIS is the way to go. I have a 78 SC and what made a huge difference was SSI headers and hi flow muffler. I wouldn't bother, and I've had lots of cars where swapping to a "hi flow" airfilter made a big difference, but in this case you can't beat the well engineered intake on a CIS motor.

+1 on SSI's and muffler. Works for me.
Only reason I have the stainless airbox was price was lower than new plastic one when mine cracked.

Thanks guys, your advice is taken and I will do the exhaust and leave the airbox. All your input is much appreciated as usual.

Juggino-
This thread held the best promise for replacing the CIS air box cover with something that a cover that looked good > Heater B/D and New Air Box Complete! Many folks received plans but it looks like Targa Dude is the only one that actually built one. As you surmised any other option would be pretty pricey, e.g. converting to EFI or carbs.

Jerry (JMPRO here on PP) produces this cover for CIS airboxes:
CIS airbox cover back in stock Looks great, IMHO, and appears to be simple install.
