Valve adjustment: feeler blade holder?
Will be adjusting the valves on my '85 Carrera this spring, & was looking at some of the old posts for tool info. John Walker recommended the longer feeler blade holder over the shorter P213 Porsche tool.
Apparently, Baum Tools doesn't have them & they just said they have no plans to order any more. Has anyone out there found another source?? Baum Tools recommended I check with Performance products, but they just have the short version. Looks like something Pelican Parts should stock. Thanks. jlex.

I'm quite sure there's a thread on this. It included alternate sources for the tool as well as part #'s. You may have to do some searching.

I know.. I read the lengthy thread which lead me to Baum Tools. Apparently after their stock was depleted in Jan., they've decided not to restock. Some members of this board were even thinking of fabricating some before the Baum source was located. Don't throw the plans away, guys; looks like there might be no commercial alternatives out there.
regards, jlex.

I'm in the same boat. Please post or email me when you find out where to get these. I called Baum a few minutes before I read your post.

Never been too fond of Baum. They seem kinda bothered by individuals. Prices aren't too great either. Try turning Skyway Tools onto the tool and see if they can locate it. Nice people there.

Nice business practice - one of their products, obviously popular, flies off the shelves so they respond by deciding to quit stocking it. Sometimes making a profit can be just so much work ...
I wonder who Baum got it from? Maybe we can get it direct from the manufacturer. Argo 88 Targa |

Here's the thread; http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52062&highlight=holder
I was the one looking in to having some built, but a $5 price was *not* going to happen. ![]() These were really common back in the day when certain Detroit Iron needed the valves adjusted with the engine running. Of course, that would shred the .005 material fast, thus the tool design. So in the spirit of Easter Egg hunts, finding another source will be your best bet. |

No luck at Skywaytools web site. Yeah, doesn't sound right that Baum doesn't care to restock its inventory on a hot item. Maybe they have to buy large quantities & don't see it as providing enough of a profit margin. Too bad. Looks like we're stuck using the Porsche tool.
regards, jlex.

Jlex,
I didn't mean look it up at Skyway, I meant call them up and see if they can get it added to their collection! Figured since they are into stocking specialty tools, they might consider adding it to their inventory. Sorry about that.

Skyway tools is about 40 miles form my house, so I checked with them, and they don't stock it, or plan to.
They gave me the Cornwell dealer's name, and told me to contact them. I guess if we got enough people together to agree on buying them, they might think about it. But I would rather have Wayne stock them, so we could buy from him. |

Yeah, what jlex says ........
![]() By the way, talking about parts, did anyone notice the $200,000 worth of new Porsche parts (from a former dealer) for sale for $20,000 on e bay? Talk about instant popularity! Argo 88 Targa |

Hey, that sounds like a good deal.... does it look like there's enough parts there to cobble together a twin turbo? Might just be interested.

After struggling with the P213 tool this weekend for my first Porsche valve adjustment effort (somewhat unsuccessful by the way), I just called Baum to see if the story has changed on this tool. They said their supplier no longer manufactures them.
So, ISLAND911, how much were these going to cost to have made?
