rear control arm replacement on 76 911sc

Guys,

Anyone have replaced one without the need of special tools? I bought my 76 930 look w/ bent control arm and can't get to align due to camber toes. I bought a used control arm w/ new bearings. I need to figure out how to press the old bearing out and swap the brakes hub and install it in the car. I read up but it look like you may need special tools.

Else, anyone can refer to a reasonable price shop in the zip of 95035 w/in 30 miles radius?

Thanks for everyone input.

Nathan

Nathan - you don't have 930 control arms, so the bearing replacement is much easier and can be done with home built tools. Sorry, can't offer any help on a local shop for you.

Some CarQuest and Napa auto parts stores offer this service. They will be happy to remove and press new bearings in for a small charge, even if you have purchased them elsewhere. Call around.

Sharky:

Try using the search function on this forum. There was a fellow Pelican from Idaho whom did all this work and also posted a write-up. I think the guys Pelican "handle" was Tom (something).

Basically, he was having trouble getting his bearing to remove from the arm, so it was a long thread here in the technical section last year.

Hope this helps, and, "welcome."

Here is another one: Better too because Gunter shows you what tool he fabricated to make this all work. Pretty cool stuff.

Here's the link to it on this site:

Thanks for everyone help and pointer to take the fear out of the uncharter territory for me. I always had this hesitation when I am not familiar with the process. I had to do a power window and power lock swap on the same '76 911. It take 2 months to think about it and one day to do....hmm...go figure.
