Looks like bad news.

Called around the intArwebz today for availability for Nexen N3000 245/45-16 tires.

I got a whole lot of "sorry, we don't have any" and two "Looks like they aren't going to make them any more."

I only called the places that listed the tire in stock or as back-ordered.

After calling around this morning, it also appears as though the Fuzion tires are also discontinued.

From what I can tell, it appears as though 16x9 wheels are now orphaned. Unless someone has some stock of these tires somewhere, I'm guessing we are SOL for this size.

Unless someone in the community can convince a manufacturer to make a small run of these things every couple of years...

I went with 245/50s.....Kumho still makes them in the AST model for a decent price....$207 delivered. Last year I put 225/50s on the front.

I spoke with the Kumho rep who opined that they won't be making them due to lack of orders. He suggested that a big retailer could convince them to do so again IF they committed to 'x' amount and the price woul be like 300 a copy.

Did you have any problem with fender clearance? By my calculation, they will be about one half inch larger in diameter than a 245/45 16 wheel/tire combo.

IIRC Kumhos run a little small, too.

I understand that with any special size of tire, the tiremakers will increase the price, due to low volume of sales. Hey, just try and buy the tires made specifically for the Veyron.

I'm wondering how much an 8" wheel will pull the tire sidewall in. I expect most of the change to be closer to the bead, and less toward the tread.

I'll be interested to see how much clearance you have. When I look at mine, I see that there is some clearance available. And if the Falkens run to size, or large, and the Kumhos run small, then there's a chance for me.

245/50-16 was the stock size tire on many IROC-Z Camaros, on 8" rims. Should fit the rim just fine.

I think they'll fit an 8" rim just fine. I think the issue is whether or not they will rub on an unrolled wheel arch.

I put 245/50/16 Kumho ASX on an 8" Fuch and there is plenty of clearance. The 225/55/16 on a 7" front was another issue...Cut the tire so rolled the lips

Thanks for the info. I'm guessing that it will work just fine on a 9" wheel as well.

I should just buy a set and do the experiment.

I've seen this slowly coming for the last few years. Anybody with 16x8s in the rear should look at running a 225/50 since selection is so much better. Even the selection in 245/50 kinda stinks.

With the onset of 18s and 19s, even the 17 in. selection is not as good as it could be.

That's about right, by my calculations. IIRC, it's about 1.125" larger.

I'm running 205/55/16 & 245/45/16's on 7 & 9's on my '87 cab. No issues in back but had to roll fronts as I had drivers side front rubbing issues through hard cornering. The rubbing wasn't bad but enough to mark the tire.

I have BBS 16" 8's and 9's. I just bought B.F. Goodrich "G" Force "Z" rated tires - 205/55 and 245/50's for my car. The ride is better and have less noise than my Yokos, but are not as sticky... There's just not a lot choices out there for 16" wheels...

And there's going to be less and less.

I suspect in a few years we'll all have to figure out how to run 17s, unless a tire manufacturer decides to make custom runs, at custom run pricing...

Michelin or maybe Avon still make a limited number of those Michelin TRX tires each year for the BMW purists...so there should always be a small but pricey supply of 245/45-16 tires.

AFAIK, those are NLA. 245/25R16 tires are dinosaurs.
