Brake Warning Light

I've read as many threads as I can find on the topic, but none seem to apply to the issue I'm having recently.

Only on long drives - 100 miles or so - the brake warning light will begin to flicker - at highway speeds. It never comes on and stays on, but the flicker does intensify.

I've tried messing with the e-brake handle while this happens, with no changes. The only thing that makes it decrease and then go away, briefly, is if I take my foot off the gas and start to slow down, or if I press the brake and slow down. It comes back again when I speed up to highway speeds.

While this is happening, when I step on the brake, there is no perceived change in petal feel or braking ability.

This past weekend, I stopped at a rest stop and when I got back on the highway, it has gone away completely.

Brake fluid levels are fine (possibly a little over the max line), and as mentioned I've played around with the e-brake a bit with no impact.

My car has ITB's with the brake vacuum line coming off one of the PMO risers and through a check valve, if that could have any bearing on the diagnosis.

Thoughts?

My first guess would be one of your MC pressure switches is failing. If pressing the pedal, slightly, eliminates the problem, that points away from a fllaw in the wiring that may be vibrating against ground.

Hi Phil..it would not hurt to disconnect the connector to your brake reservoir float and connected them together..then see if the problem is still there.Just an idea of bad float contact or bad float
