You have to give the seller credit for being honest. I think if I had my engine rebuilt by motorscheisters I'd keep it to myself. It amazes me that people living in CA will bring their cars to MM. Doesn't everyone know how bad they are?

WOW, you're right - that does say it all!

And those wheels look hideous on that car - why would anyone do that - guess the owner likes it!?

So what would that engine be worth? (..I'm assuming as a "rebuild core"?) If the sale price stays low enough, sell the core, put another motor in it, change the wheels...you could have a pretty clean longhood for not a lot of outlay. (..compared to some of the asking prices of rust-free longhoods these days!)

IF the sale price stays low...

What a shame... car's been with the family for 36 years then they get jiffed by MM.

I would say the value of an average core, plus all the new parts they just installed.

This is the sellers response to my questioning the non-running comment.

"car is running minor tune up and replace batteries was sitting for almost a year."

Is MM selling whole cars now? This ad seems whack to me.
(And, just my humble opinion, those wheels ain't makin' it.)

MotorMeister offers a "5/5" warranty. 5 miles or 5 minutes, whichever comes first.

Maybe he had the motor sent to MM while he restored the rest of the car. Then had some trouble getting it running when he installed it.

The motor and the wheels (among other things) scream "i cut corners."

Who knows? Maybe the motor just needs a little tweek to get it running, and then will be OK. I have heard from owners of MM engines that had no trouble. They don't destroy 100% of everything they touch. Then get some Fuchs, and you'd have something, possibly very cheap.

I know, I'm being too optimistic, but you never know.

When is the consumer protection people going to come down on MM? I'm sure there have been enough complains filed to be looked into.

Kind of my point. Just the mention of MM puts fear into all who hear it. Now I know what a vampire hunter felt like.

I talked with a MM employee, once (outside of his work environment). He confessed that it's no surprise that there are so many complaints of shoddy work, as it wasn't so much the labor that was lacking, but rather any attempt at putting decent parts into engine rebuilds. If you send in a tired motor for rebuild, but the job gets done with even crappier used parts, what do you expect?
