Given the weather today in NorCal...a Cab is awesome. I love mine, that said it isn't a daily driver and I never put my top up. If I am driving and it decides to rain, I drive faster.

That said, you do hear everything is a cab, so if you want a great stereo, or don't like hearing your car screaming at 5k RPMs, then well, get a coupe.

And, you SMELL everything. Granted I live in Santa Cruz, but I swear 1 out of 10 cars are smoking green fatties....

It's a truism, but different strokes...

We've got three cabriolets (yes, we still live in sunny Rhode Island), and a beater Yaris. Tracking the Yaris is not in my future.

Enjoy what you like and live vicariously though others for the things you can't justify!

YMMV
Having had all three - I can honestly say that you don't know what the F you are talking about.

I wouldn't dare resort to "name-calling" (psst).. Bet that's a bad arse-running car (no question,...a beaut, to boot!)

My opinion: Coupe ( to repeat).,..as to "feel",..and so on.....

Wish I had the cash to own all three (honestly). They each bare their own qualities (and problems). Regardless, I could see a use for ALL THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Track concerns are another matter.

BEST!

Cabriolet, Targa, Narrow Body Coupe (except late 60s early 70s), any Non-Forced Induction model (with the same Coupe exeptions), any tailess 911 (with the same Coupe exeptions) and least you forget, Boxster = CHIC CAR!

All 930/911 Turbo (except Cabriolet & Targa - albeit borderline) = MAN CAR!

This should simplify all futher inquiries of this nature! Maybe it should be made a sticky?

The Beauty of it all is, that you can have your pick of all three. Personally I feel that the Psychos who dream that they can perceive the body flex between a hardtop and cabriolet are basically brainwashed.. Maybe they should watch a formula one race and wish for a "coupe" edition .How about a lap of the Nurburgring between a coupe and Cab. See who has a better lap time??? who cares??? whatever is fun for you.. If you cant make up your mind , buy a Targa.Cabriolets are for pansies???? that is the lamest statement I have heard on this forum in months.Tepps

Yeah, those cabriolet 917-30s were such CHIC CARs - got no respect

I went with a coupe this time and don't miss the targa.

Drive both. You'll soon figure it out.
...lol....the fun doesn't even start at that pace...

After owning coupes and a targa.... I can safely say the Targa gives you the best of both worlds. Like anything, properly maintained targa tops don't leak or rattle. The real world answere on why I would recomend a Targa over a Coupe.....911 air cooled cars have horrible cold air ventilation. A targa eliminates the problem because most all the time you will have the targa top off driving in good weather. My old coupe with a sunroof and the windows down makes hot weather bearable, but a Targa makes hot weather enjoyable to drive in. A open targa at triple digit speeds is a common thing for me. It's much less windy and more calm inside the cabin than any Roadsters I have owned. The open air driving is exhilarating, you either get or don't. Think of it as sex without a condom on.

The beauty of the 911 is, there is no wrong answere. It is outstanding in any of it's 3 configurations. Figure out what you want out of your car and the environment you will be diving it in most and buy that one and enjoy. If I lived in the city and did a lot of city driving, I would only have a coupe. The Targa and Cab are better for seeing the scenery and being seen in. Some times not the safest option for city driving. You get the idea.....

Yep. I'm comfy in the 90s as long as I'm moving! A little perspiration? So what...
In fact, it's comfy enough in the 40s!

I can definitely feel the "flex factor" in my cabby. Then again, I don't plan on tracking it. It's still a lot of fun, especially with the top down. I like my girls topless.

I wanted a sports car; The wife wanted a convertible; BINGO- Porsche 911 cab.

I couldn't be happier and love the car. I AX and have done 2 DE's. The car is lowered, I have a front strut brace and run summer extreme performance tires. The last DE ( green group) I was only passed by one car in six 30 minute sessions. Maybe he wouldn't have passed me if I had a stiffer coupe? Best part, I can put the top down a wave to everyone as I leave enjoying nature's AC while everyone else has their head out the window looking like a panting dog.

Unless you are hard core racing, don't let the body flex sway your decision.
