Mismarked fuchs
In a moment of weakness i bought a supposed set of 7 and 8 x 16 Fuchs off of ebay. What arrived are marked as three 7's and one 6 on the inside of the wheel, but on closer inspection one of the supposed 7 inch wheels has a part number 911362.1 13 and has the same lip as the other 6. Is it common to have a mismarked wheel like that?

it might help to clean up a bit more where the numbers are showing and repost with some measurements (width and offset) to see what you ended up with,

The offset says 36, just like the 6 inch wheel. I tried measuring but there's a set of roller tires on the wheels so it was inaccurate. The other 7s are the 23.3 offset with correct part number for 911 7s from 1985 on, 911 362 115.

Two more pictures, a little cleaner:
![]() ![]() It's definitely 911362.1 13 for the part number, although it's difficult to see well in the photo. The wheel has the exact lip as the 6 that came in the set, and definitely different than the lip on the 7s, and as best I can tell by measuring the width, it seems to be a 6 inch wheel. I tried researching mismarked Fuchs with no luck and haven't found any 7 inch Fuchs with a 36 offset either. |

![]() Don't know if this picture helps but the lip is narrow and not sloped like on the other 7 inch wheels. Here's a 7 for comparison. ![]() and the 6: ![]() |

I wouldn't even bother trying to figure it out. Clearly they are not 7's and 8's like you thought you were buying, so I would work out the return with the seller.

Well, I thought about just going with these if he'll refund some of my purchase price.

I was able to find a post on Rennlist of a similar occurrence, with someone posting a vague corroboration. I guess it can happen but it is weird.

A little more follow up to close out this mystery. I took the wheel in to my shop and they measured it as a 6 x 16, so it's mismarked. They said they had seen an earlier wheel that had been mismarked, also. I did more online research yesterday and found another Pelican member who had a wheel marked as a 15 when it was a 16, so while uncommon, these wheels can be mismarked.
