Hi from Alabama, Ed. I remember Ruby from the Pelican run to the vineyard several years back at Monterey. A beautiful car. I know it must have been hard to part with her. Bet she makes the new owner happy, tho.
|
One of the nicest cars on this board. Whoever got her sure is one lucky bastard.
|
You're obviously going to miss her.. :(
|
Like sending your child off to college and to face the world...
She'll do fine. You've taught her well. Wipe your eyes. Good luck, Ruby. |

Absolutely one of the coolest looking Targas! That picture of it parked at the track with the gas station behind it is one of my favorites. It just looks so muscular and purposeful. |
Ed,
Your Targa sets the bar higher. The new owner will have fun. regards, al |

Always loved the look of your Targa with the bright trim but I guess change is inevitable. My 73' is going up for sale soon as well.
|
One of the major reasons I parted with my 69T was the smog hassle back in '91. If I'd kept her, she'd be exempt right now! Damn CA smog! I hope you don't come to regret it, Ed, like I have.
|
No offense to other Targa owners, but it was pics of Ruby that had me consider getting a Targa. The combo of color, stainless Targa bar, bright trimwork, ducktail, and polished Fuchs made a Targa look gooood!!
Have fun on that sailboat!! |
Ruby will be missed, I have some pics of her and my car at the Carlsbad cars and coffee. The freeway pic is headed home, I will never forget the sound as you passed me right under the bridge.

say it isnt soooooo
ED!! Awe...me so sad, best of luck, that was a pretty well sorted little car, I know the 993 must be great! |
Great looking car...but um, did you ever get it to pass smog? If so, how?

Sure is a sad day, Beautiful Targa! I feel sorry for all you California guys. Can't you just register them in a different state? My 1976 Targa is registered in RI with Antique plates, (over 25 yrs old) no emissions or inspection of any kind is required!

Someone IS trying to show me a sign. I was headed south on I-15 today to downtown San Diego, and was passed by three air-cooleds in about 15 minutes. I tell you, I'm already starting to look at pre-89's with lust. |

Ed,
I think I have saved every picture you've posted over the years of ruby! it is my inspireation to build an awesome daily driver targa some day! the color, the trim, the wheels, ducktail, stance, it all has been done in perfect execution! Good luck with your 993, they are wonderful cars as well, but I personally would have sellers remorse. |
Has it been that long? Followed the thread from the early Texas days. Enjoy the 993 and Catalina. SmileWavy
