door hinge repair question
This is the ?hinge? on my door; on both doors the screw is 'popping' when the door opens, due to the screw that you see in detail. I wanted to get everyone's input on the best way to repair this mess, so that I no longer hear the popping sound and to ensure the door is operating as it should.
This is a 1984 911 cab with a 993 rebody kit, if that helps. ![]() ![]()

The "popping" sound is probably the metal inside the door flexing. It's a common problem with these cars.
There is a repair kit available but might require taking the door off. That depends on the condition of the existing metal. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_BDYchs_pg2.htm#item11

1st, that should be a pin not a screw. Remove it and see if both ends are secured properly. Normally the piece inside the door starts to come loose and it is a pain to fix. Hopefully with a new body side piece and proper pin and grease the problem will go away, it looks as if it has never had grease.
