Not for the timid...

If there's someone with a bigger 'pair' around, now's the time to step forward...

Going "cabrio" on us, are you? What are you going to do to compensate for increased body flex?

Dude, you must have grape fruits!

Seriously, good luck Thom. Can't wait to see the finished project.

Thom,

It's going to finish up as one hell of a car! Welcome to the Cabriolet Club!

Yes, it's a factory top.

check out http://www.vintagebus.com/howto/cab

I have a set of factory mounts, plus a set of aftermarket ones. Not sure which I'll use yet, but the factory chunks (taken from a wrecked cab) make an *excellent* reference!

At this point, I have the passenger-side "B-pillar" area just about cut down.

A question: does the tonneau look like that on the post-82 cabriolets? It always seems kind of bulky, but I can't tell if it's just me or if there's something structurally different about the factory cabriolets that lets the top lie more flat than a targa conversion.

Another question: do the factory tops mount the same as the targa, or do you have to change the hardware up there?

And I still have chassis concerns - with the 3.6 in there, you're more flex-prone than the average targa already. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the feel after your first track session post-conversion.

But I've got to admit, I think an early targa conversion would look even cooler - has anyone seen one done?

Emanuel

Bedtime update

Nothing's welded yet, just checking spacing and all.

Bedtime Update II

Here's the roll bar. It's sitting on top of the carpet and sound deadening, so the height is all wrong. I just put it in to snap a pic.

Tyson (brainiac) did the conversion to his 73(I think that's the year) And JW did the speedster thing with an early targa.

Almost done...

Still have to figure out how the two little tensioner-dealies go in on the sides, and I have to adjust my windows and frames, etc, etc, etc...

Maybe you answered this already, if so forgive the duplication, but are you keeping the wing?

I'm trying to find a C2 setup like Handsome Jack runs on his, but I'll save the Big Wing for track days.
