Michelin Pilot Sports

Things I learned:

Michelin Pilot Sports are NOT snow tires.

That is all.

Agreed. The PS2's on my 'other' car were very fun a month ago in the snow...felt like I had 700hp! I could spin, slide drift with the blip of the throttle ;P

Dan,
The S03's did pretty well in the snow.....not so much on the ice, last Sunday...............I missed a tour of the new Ridge Motorsports track in Shelton. 2-3" on I-5 South of mount Vernon................Turned around and went home with my tail between my legs.

See you when the Glaciers recede!

regards,
al

I used them as all season tires. Worked great for me!

Fought with my Audi dealership to have all season radials installed when I took delivery of my A4 with 19 inch wheels. They put on the Pilot Sports. When winter came, quattro was even useless until I put snow tires on. Full disclosure, my snows are almost 2 inches narrower.

It's the 944S that has these tires. It doesn't have the nice rear weight bias for snow.

Usually the Porsches stay in the garage anytime there is a threat of snow, and I drive the big truck with big bumpers and knobby tires.

Had to go to Vancouver, and I'd rather get 30 mpg than 13. Usually I-5 will remain bare and wet, but it was a bit slushy in places, and I have a really hard time driving below the speed limit.

Made it there and back just fine. Just a few miles of extra concentration to keep the pointy end facing forward.

I really like the Pilot Sports. Closest thing to R-compounds I've used for street driving.

The Pilots Work for me....

I have the Pilot Sport Plus A/S- all season- on my 930, and on a '88 Cab, and love them. I live in the mountains of eastern Az at 8050 ft- they work great in the rain, and snow. Given that the 911 is the world's worst snow car IMHO in my 39yrs- goodgawd- of driving experience in these things- I do take it very easy and don't do anything stupid. If the roads are icy, it stays in the garage. When I have had to drive in the snow, the Pilots have not let me down. Everything else we own are 4WD trucks, all running other M+S Michelins.

Bryan,

I had every intention of being at the track with the group, but as it turned out my local weather was not cooperating. OK at my place, so I headed out for the ferry, but the freeway turned into a skating rink just south of me. I made it to the Stanwood/Camano island exit..........2-3" of snow and ice with more coming down...couldn't see, down to 40-50 mph......slippery as goose $hit and getting worse the father South I went. ....................cleared up about 9-10am at my place...........aaaarrrggghhh!!! the great white North.

The SO3s were working pretty well..............but not that well. However, as I headed home i did have a bit of fun in the snow.

regards,
al
