cruise control connect
I want to hook up the cruise control on my 84 cab, but it seems like something's missing from the assembly....can anyone clue me in on what's needed in terms of parts and connection steps?

I can't remove my cruise cable from the throttle body. You will either need to rig something or buy a new cable. New cable's are either NLA or a couble of hundred dollars. Look for a used one if you can't make it work.

CC Cable.
If NLA, it would appear that there is enought length for a repair.

What I did to solve this and my cable had the end completely broken off was to fabricate a "keeper" to grip the cable. I posted this with pictures here a year or so ago but I can't find it for some reason.
What I used was a 1/2" aluminum spacer with 6-32 threads obtained from those gray plastic bins at the hardware stores like Ace, Sears etc. I then drilled a hole through the side of the spacer, inserted two 6-32 Allen head set screws in each end, slipped the spacer over the cable in the hole I drilled, then snugged up the set screws. The spacer rests in the curved arm on the throttle body. 2 years later it still works just fine. Of course you will have to adjust the tension on the cable with the adjuster in the bracket where the cable emerges in your picture. In my case I replaced not only the end piece on the throttle body but the end inside the servo as well with another half size spacer and used piano wire in between. I think my cost was all of $5 instead of the silly $250 for a genuine Porsche cable!

Cruse control
By the way, if the cable is to short go to your local bike shop and ask for a internal gear cable they work fine.
