Is this a scam ???
I am in process of buying a 1978 SC and after inquiring for the vin 1 and title
this is the answer I received,,,,,,,! read below . Seller.... Let me explain how this is going to work: The car is sealed and ready for shipping in Ontario. Before leaving I had prearranged the deal with eBay and using this service you will get a 5 days testing period after delivery.I already pre-signed transfer of title so it wont be a problem. In the inspection period you can test the vehicle, go with it at your local mechanic for inspection, but do not put more than 200 km's on it. The payment will be made through eBay transfer and only after you will receive the car and sign documents, I will receive the payment, eBay will immediately authorize shipping and you receive the car for inspection. This way, you will be able to inspect the vehicle before committing to buy,and i will be glad to know that eBay has the possession of the money during the inspection period. All documents will be delivered along with the car, including owner's manual, clear title, bill of sale, keys, etc. If we decide to proceed with this deal, i will have to contact eBay and provide them all the necessary information, so they can start the process.I will be needing your full name, address and phone number for that. You will be contacted shortly after that, together with all the instructions to follow and the invoice as well. If you are interested in buying send me your full name and shipping address so we can make business. I look forward hearing from you. |

Yes it is a very common scam. Any time you want to be sure, just ask for their phone number so you can call and talk to them.

sounds like a total scam....IMO, anyone who states something like "I prearranged with ----" is a scammer.....ebay is not a person, I find it very unlikely that a seller would prearrange anything with them/him/it.
run away. if you really want to give seller the benefit of the doubt, send an email to ebay's support or scam help desk.

yes, it will start out with everything in your favour, then as the deal gets closer they will ask for some money up front for shipping or som BS. they dont ask for much, 1k or so.
there is another recent thread on here very similar. when it sounds too easy, it is likely a scam.

If the guy doesn't want the car to be "caught" in the divorce settlement. You already know that he is a Rogue. end of story

Lots of scams these days. Saw a few over on the DDK forum where guys asked about eBayUK sales. One was an early 911 for 9000 GBP with much of the ad from a recently expired eBay ad in Florida @$40,000. Cars, engines and what not are being offered by copying older ads from overseas. I think the only "deals" to be had are bad deals.

contact ebay, they will let you know, IMO it is screaming "SCAM". I have had the reverse scam in selling a car, they tell you how it is going to work. "I don't need to look at the car, it is exactly what I want, for my dad" blah, blah, blah. "Send me your name and addresss". Report them to ebay.

it can get even better...they send you a ebay or paypal site that looks exactly like the real site but it is a looks believable but is a duplicated fake site. once you sign on one of their sites they have all the information they need to clean out your account.

eBay escro sends the "here's how it's gonna work" instructions to both parties. And terms like escro would/should be I'm the payment section if that's the method he's wanting.

Since it is a scam, you should really be persistent about bogging this d!p***** down with questions and pestering the crap out of him.
Run him through the wringer. There are several threads in other forums where scammers had their arses handed to them. I (insert expletive) hate people like this........
