creek in the middle of the dash
I know you guys probably hate posts like this but I thought maybe somebody has had the same issue and could help me. My otherwise bullet proof tight 911sc has a creek in the dash in between the tach and speedo. I can pushdown on the dash pad and replicate it. My question is how to fix it without replacing my dash pad that looks like new. The car has under 50,000 miles on it. I have had three previous 911's and none of them did this. It wouldn't bother me but on rougher pavement it gets pretty noisy. It is almost like my dash pad is not really attached to the metal yet it looks perfect. Thanks for any help.

Did you mean to say "creak" (a squeaky noise) as opposed to "creek" (a stream of water)?
At first, when I read your post, I thought you had water running across the dash. I read the post, because I had some leaks to attend to, but I don't think that's what you meant.

LOL, Well maybe if you shoot some sealant up in there could take care of the loose fitment???
Jerome, if you have a leak coming from under the dash to the either footwells, check the washer nozzles, if they are loose, it will introduce water on to your chassis and then find the lowest point most likely the heater/air vents at the footwells.

On my '89 there were two nuts right above the speedo and oil temp gauge that held the dash pad to the metal underneath. Maybe these are loose? I got to mine by removing those two gauges and using an ultra tiny ratchet wrench (I think it's under 2" long).
Hope this helps, Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 331k miles |

Well I don't have a creek thankfully! Thanks I was wondering what it takes to get to attachment nuts. I will start there. Thanks again.

Yup. I found it funny - no offence, I hope. You can edit this if you like. Open your original post, then go to the Edit button, then Advanced. You will then be able to change the title.

Drodg, I removed my dash without a lot of pain - I could access all of the front-to-rear facing nuts from inside the front trunk, using a variety of wrenches, sockets and extensions (from very long to no extension at all). Hmmm, there was one F-R nut next to the A/C duct which I accessed thru the speedo hole.
I did NOT have any screws under the defroster trim panel that would have required the windshield to be removed. My windshield was removed at the time, but I re-installed the dash after the new glass was in. One thing I did do, was 'slot' the holes on the top of the gauges to make installation easier... you could probably install it without doing that, but I found I had to press quite hard and the slots made it WAY easier.
