Name this wing.

I am considering a wing for my '87 Carrera. I'm on the fence between a Carrera tail and a duck. While chatting with the owner of a local auto-body shop who specializes in Porsches I noticed he had this wing sitting around his shop. He said it came off a European '75 Carrera. It looks like a RS America wing to me. Can anyone shed some light?

It appears to be an aftermarket Carrera style tail.

No markings on it?

Yes compared to the factory rubber trimmed wings it's light. The information I was told that it came off a car that was being raced in Europe and that it's a Euro version of a '75 Carrera wing. The guy who has it has been in the Porsche resto biz for 30 years so he knows his stuff. Looks like this....

....but all fiberglass of course. Was there an earlier wing that was the same shape as the RSA wing but had a rubber lip that the RSA was modeled after?

The 77 Carerra 3.0 wing, SC wing, 84-89 Carerra wing and the RSA wing, are all the same thing. The fiberglass one in your picture is a common aftermarket version of the above tail.

Haha, this sounds just like the conversation I was having with the boys in the shop.

Did some more research, and looks like 77 3.0s did have the early style tail. And yes, the SC, Carrera and RSA are all the same. However, some SCs did have rubber units.

Everyone who opts for a tail unfortunately goes for the typical one - be proud to put a duck on yours, my friend - being normal is not for everyone and with our cars, the sky is the limit!
