Follow up: The SSI's are securely installed! Began the removal process last Saturday at 9 am, replaced the oil lines at noon, and was tightening the bolts on the 2 in/ 1 out stock muffler at 3:30 pm. Only catch was getting the driver side rear heater hose re-installed (the one from the rear of the driver side SSI up to the plastic receiver on the engine tin); I cut the original one a little too short and had to scrounge up a new one. Jacked up the car yesterday, installed the new hose, checked all the bolts on the SSI's, realigned the muffler to eliminate a slight puffing air leak on the drivers side inlet, and VIOLA! Done. Love the new peppiness! This week will address the meek sound emanating from the stock muffler by replacing it with a Dynomax 2 in/ 2 out that was highly recommended to me by a friend who knows his stuff. Maybe next Saturday I will post some video of the difference in sound between stock and aftermarket mufflers...sounds like a plan.

Thanks for all the helpful advice - due to the input from this forum, I not only had all the tools and advice/wisdom to pull this little project off, but you all gave me the confidence to even try it in the first place. For that - THANK YOU!

Link to a brief video of me enjoying my new SSI's and Dynomax Superturbo muffler (model# 17725 is the only one that will fit). The video doesn't do justice to the actual sound of the car, but take it from me - it's shockingly loud and dangerously addictive! I have spent a couple of trips now trying to locate the method of driving that will keep me from being incarcerated...nothing has occurred to me as of yet. I sit at stop lights and just giggle like a little school girl. I highly recommend this upgrade if you enjoy driving alone and don't have a radio. ;)

Glad it went well for you and you are having fun! Post a picture of the muffler!

Yep - I've heard that it's also the muffler used on the Grand National. Thing sounds INSANE hooked up to SSI's! I will get a picture soon.

I can see why you giggle like a school girl, that thing sounds really nice.
