76 Gauge swap question

The previous owner put white faced gauges in my car, and I am looking to go back to black VDO's. I am also about to put a 3.0 out of an SC in it, so it is my understanding that I will need a tach from an SC. Would I be able to just swap all the gauges with a '83 car? Not sure if there are any other differences with the speedo input or other gauges.

Thanks,

Joe

'76 is a bit difficult, as it is the year of transition from mechanical to electrical tach drive. First check, if your speedo is already electrical; then it's interchangeable with an SC.
Temp and pressure gauges vary, so you need to make sure that you have the same sender and gauge types, otherwhise you'll get wrong values. If you put an SC engine in, you also need a 6 pin CDI unit and a slight modification of the harness for the tach signal.
Hope this helps,
Jens
