1978 SC 6 pin and coil help

I bought this car as a project taken apart and I'm in the process of putting it back together. The previous owner cut the 6 pin connector off for the CDI and put in crimp conectors. I was able to find a new connector and pins through Mouser Electronics. I think I have them in the right spot but would love for someone to help me verify it. So I can put the new connector in.

Starting at the top left. 31-1 GND ( I have a double brown/white and brown.)
TD TACH ( Back Violet)
31-d GND ( Black wire)

Bottom row starting at the left A (Green)
15 (Red)
7 ( Brown)

I ohmed 31-d and 7 to my distributer connector
My concern is the brown/white, brown wires and the green wire. I'm not sure if they all go to the coil. The pelican wiring diagram shows a white wire going to A or + post of the coil to pin A of the 6 pin connector. Mine is green.

Second concern is the two brown wires do both Brown/white and brown go to the negative side of the coil from pin 31-1? I don't think that they would have two wires going to the same terminal on each end.

Any help would be great. I'm new to this forum and to my first 911. Any help would be appreciated. Eric

Looks like someone replaced some wires in your harness at some time... I hope you removed any and all butt splices...
The wiring is correct on the plug if everything meters out. They replaced the white wire for the coil with a green wire and replaced the shielded coax wire to the distributor with whatever...
Regarding the browns to the coil, the brown/white goes to the coil terminal. the thicker brown wire should go to the mounting stud for the coil bracket.
Good luck.

As you are new here I have answered one question...
You must post more pictures of your car to get more answers...
Just kidding, (sort of) but most of us here like to see what you are working on.

Thanks Dennis. Regarding the distributer wires. The pig tail to the distributer has a brown wire (might have been green at one time) with a bare wire wraped around it. Is that what you mean should be where my brown and black wires are at the right of the connector at 7 and 31-d. I hope it will run with whats there.

Electrical plug upgrade........

Eric,

Do yourself a favor and replace the 'customized CDI 6-pin plug'. To unplug/plug your current set-up requires precision!!!! You could find used plug or get one from Timmy2. I'm cheap and frugal. I hate to spent money but decided to buy an engine wire harness from this guy (Dennis the menace) because it is nicely built with the right parts. Plus you pay extra for quality work.

Search "green wire" and you will see what the pigtail wire from the harness connector to the distributor should look like. The harness wire was originally a green coax wire.
Maybe show some more pictures around the distributor area wiring from further back, so we can see what you are working with.

911 pictures

Here is a couple pics of the project. The engine was completly apart when I got it but had all new parts to assemble it. It's a California car with a California title. I bought it in Mass where it has been sitting since 2006. I think it will be a good car when it's all together. Eric

On the distibuter wires where would the green wire that was originaly there go. Pin 31-d or 7? I think if I knew that I would be all set. The connector at the distributer pig tail has the brown and black wires in it also. When connected the brown wire on the harness connects to the green wire on the pig tail and the shield wire connects to my black. So my brown wire is my green wire I think.

Looks like a nice project.
The green coax wire would replace both the brown and black wires. Green as the core and the outer sheathing as the shield wire. Porsche used a coaxial wire to shield the tach signal wire from stray voltages that could be impressed upon it.
What is going on with the grey WUR connector in your pictures? it looks like it has been spliced into.
I see more crimped butt spliced wires as well.
Someone must have had a lot of problems with the engine wiring. I hope they knew what they were doing. The color changes for the replacement wires should be noted by you so you can troubleshoot.

Thanks Dennis. Would the core green wire go to pin 7 or 31d?

OK, so here is what you should have;

Top row from left to right based on your picture:
1.brown & brown/white (Coil - and ground), 2. purple/black (tach), 3. black (green wire coax shield in heat shrink)

Bottom row Left to right:
1. White to coil +, 2. Red (power from white T connector), 3. Green (green wire coax core)
