I just looked at my can of GiBBS and there is a phone number of 248-719-0550 or GIBBS Ultra, Mega Penetrating Lubricating Oil.

Is Gibbs somehow better than the world famous Kroil Penetrating Oil from Kano Laboratories? Kroil is so good I don't understand what I did before it.

Can order it from NAPA. Secondary supplier. Not on the shelf.
When I was ordering some breakin oil for another project. It was one of the brands then rattled off.

I don't know that Gibbs is better than Corrosion Block marine protectant, or the stuff Wurth makes.
But I have some anyway. I had to order multiple cans by mail order. |

Sold on ebay. ~$10-12/can. I've used it on my fan and some other aluminum parts. Mag seems to darken up more than aluminum. I'm pleased with the result.

I've been genuinely underwhelmed by the stuff. I have been applying it at regular intervals to my fan, fan housing, and valve covers for about the last year. I don't see it doing anything WD-40 wouldn't do under identical conditions, matching frequency of application and all of that. And I can get a gallon of WD-40 locally for less than one can of Gibbs.
It's also about the worst "penetrating" oil I have ever tried. PB Blaster works far better, and 50/50 ATF/acetone works even better. Just not worth what they get for it, or the hassle of mail ordering it.

I used it after glass bead blasting the parts. The raw finish might take it differently.

"Gibbs® is a supreme penetrating, lubricating, and universal surface conditioning fluid that not only prevents rust, but actually reverses oxidation."
supreme, eh? I've never even bothered to try it as a penetrant or "rust loosener" I know some of the Early911S crowd love the stuff for its ability to protect or enhance Mg parts. OTOH, they are "concoursey" ... |
