What tires are you running on your older 930's?

I have a 1988 930 with the stock wheels R: 245/45 16. I have not need tires for a while only to find out they do not make that size any more for street. The fronts seem to be in stock.

I was recommend to run and 225/50's. The rolling dia. stays with in a fraction of the stock size, I just loose 3/4" in the rear width. Has anyone else done this yet?

What tires do you like? I am looking at the Dunlop Direzza Sport and the Mich Pilot Exalto PE2.

Bigfoot,

I invite you as a fellow 930 owner to post your question on the 930 turbo and supercharge forum here on Pelican. That forum is better suited to answer your question. There are many good threads that cover tire sizes and makes for stock rims. Many of us have changed to 17 inch rims. I run Toyo R888 on 17 inch rims with 245/40 up front and 315/40 in the rear.

Those Dunlops are awesome street tires, I plan to switch both of my cars over to these for the street, we run these on both of our chump cars because these are about the highest performance street tire you can buy.

I have Kumho Ecsta XS on my turbo look. I have 9s in back, i dont know if that was standard in 88 or not, the sizes are 225/50 & 265/45. They arent so great when cold/wet, but they are maybe the only choice left for 7s and 9s.

If its in your budget to upgrade to 17s now might be the right time. many more options

I just installed the Conti extreme contact DW and have been very happy. I know the pain of not being able to find 245/45 but they are out there. Toyo still makes them but they are pricey. I'm running 205/55 front and 225/50 rears. I have not noticed any handling trade-offs

I'm running RA1's on my 7's and 9's. I've driven them in all situations except snow, and they are decent street tires for R comps. They don't seem to make 205/55-16's anymore though.
