Smile Fixed front condenser fan!

I finally decided to look into my condenser fan which squealed once in a while. Took the fan out of the smuggler's box and lubricated the shaft with lithium grease. Runs super quiet now. Nice to have cool air blowing inside the passenger's compartment. Now I need to have my a/c recharged...

FYI: Later model cars have a fuse installed on this line, as apparently when this fan fails, the line catches fire. Apparently the amp draw when this fan fails is not enough to blow the 30 amp fuse.

FYI There is a factory fuse assembly that takes care of this. Unfortunately, I do not have the information. Sorry.

NEVERMIND! I re-read the post, I thought you were talking about the blower motor in front of the car near the battery.

SO SORRY!

Question In my *Aussie* 911

The evap' fan is not located in my smugglers box.
I wish it was, but I suspect that it is an in-line fan inside the cabin footwell?
Can anybody confirm this please - it squeaks like a cricket and I wanna stamp in it!

Sean - there is a blower motor in each footwell, but they are for auxiliary heat distribution to the cabin (either to your feet or to windshield defrost). They only come on when the heater levers are lifted (activating the rear blower motor) and the dial switch between the seats is turned on. They do crap out pretty regularly, so much so that later years have an in-line fuse installed to prevent fires. If it squeals, you can remove and lube it up to fix it for a while, but it will eventually die again. New aftermarket replacement motors cost a little less than $100, used ones go for about $50.

I didn't think it ever got cold in Australia ...
