DME Relay Change- now it won't start

1984 Porsche 911

Today I replaced my DME Relay, I turned the ignition and the engine started to turn briefly and then stopped.

Now nothing comes on when I turn the ignition, no power whatsoever. Like a fuse has blown but looking at the fuses under the front hood, I don't see any disconnected metal fuses.

Any idea of what could have been blown changing the dme relay?

Probably bad out of the box.

I just had a new Porsche DME that was bad out of the box.

I would suggest that you take your battery to your local parts store and have them load test it to see if it is any good.

Once you have the car cranking check for spark (pull a plug and ground it while cranking) then check for fuel.

Luck

Fuel tank is full, battery is brand new and it started this morning. Tried putting the old DME in and same problem- absolutely nothing, no crank, no power to anything...

Any other thoughts?

If it's a ÜRO relay, welcome to the club................

Got to check each and every one. Mine was an Porsche not OEM (Kahler).

PS the Kahler works just fine.
