993 wing electrical power

After quite a bit of work I have managed to get a 993 decklid w/ electric tail on my 73.5 I also plan to keep the original lid, and go for a ducktail also. Whatever mood I'm in I guess.

My question;
I would like to get the wing to "motor" as it should. All hardware is there. I will run a toggle in the front dash area. I just don't know which is the power wire and ground. Seems like it would be simple enough to run power to a 12V lead in the engine bay, then run a switch to the cabin and a ground. But, with the 993 DME hookup there are a bunch of wires and I don't know where to start. anyone have ideas??

Wow.. I have a 993 split grill that I have been thinking of doing the same to my 74.... How the hell did you get it to work... ??? the decklid came up short on my 74 ( was way too small) . can you take a pic and show it to us.... I would really appreciate it.

Are you sure it's a 993 decklid and not a 964? The 993 lid is shorter than the pre-89 ones.

The best way to wire it is using an aftermarket load-sensing circuit, that allows power windows to go up and down with a single touch, instead of having to hold the switch in one direction or the other and count in your head.

Click on this thumbnail for a larger version of the wiring diagram for using a power window switch and a one-touch controller:

And here's a link to the load-sensing unit itself:

Yes, it is a 993 lid, and it took alot of work, and even more "belief" that I could do it. Car is at paint. Ill get some pics when done As far as the switch due to my highly limited eletrical knowledge I would like something basic like a toggle. only need a power, ground wire and switch I believe, but don't know how to wire it.

But that doesn't make sense! The 993 decklid doesn't fit on anything but a 993. The 964 would fit, however, on any earlier 911.

It is possible after cutting, reinforcing, and fabricating. I wouldn't recommend it when the 964 is so much easier to use. But, I couldn't find one when I needed it. Dedication and knowledge from those much smarter about body work than myself in a combined effort made it work. Still need to get it wired though.

Well, that's pretty awesome. Make sure to post some pictures when you have it completed!
