engine authentication
Hello...its been a while since ive been here, however i just recently fell in love with my 1970 911T sportomatic again
I have a question about verifying the engine in it. Here is what i have... 911/08 6108228 I have checked the engine rebuild book and all of that seems right...if Im reading it correct.. So than can i assume its the 2.2 Thanks for the help

Correct on the 911/08 being a 1970 911T Sportomatic but the engine serial number for the 911/08 stopped at 6107999. The serial number 6108228 is supposed to be a 1970 911E, 911/04 Sportomatic.

im looking at the "how to rebuild and modify porsche engines book"
When i look at the line for 1970 911 T...it states that numbers start at 6108001 The E Sporto is 6208001 Again, assuming im reading this correct |

Hmmm, I'm getting my info from the Porsche 911 Red Book. Who knows which is correct?

You are right, the 1970 911E starts at 6208001 but the red book says the 911/08 911T stops at 6107999. Dunno.
