engine authentication

Hello...its been a while since ive been here, however i just recently fell in love with my 1970 911T sportomatic again

I have a question about verifying the engine in it.

Here is what i have...

911/08
6108228

I have checked the engine rebuild book and all of that seems right...if Im reading it correct..

So than can i assume its the 2.2

Thanks for the help

Correct on the 911/08 being a 1970 911T Sportomatic but the engine serial number for the 911/08 stopped at 6107999. The serial number 6108228 is supposed to be a 1970 911E, 911/04 Sportomatic.

im looking at the "how to rebuild and modify porsche engines book"
When i look at the line for 1970 911 T...it states that numbers start at 6108001

The E Sporto is 6208001

Again, assuming im reading this correct

Hmmm, I'm getting my info from the Porsche 911 Red Book. Who knows which is correct?

You are right, the 1970 911E starts at 6208001 but the red book says the 911/08 911T stops at 6107999. Dunno.
