Simple question...will the 69-73 dash cap fit on a 68

and if it does not who makes one for the 65-68 cars?

Did you ever find out? Just curious if the shape is the same but defrost openings in a different spot? I am curious to, any replies would be great

I have a 1967 that I am building into a track car, the frame to my old dash was rotted, so recovering it was not an option. I looked into a fiberglass top, but have also seen guys use the abs coverlays in place of the old dash as a lighweight/cheap alternative. I would prefer to use the coverlay and have no issue trimming it to fit and making mounts, just as long as the contours are the same. There is no defrost/heat/wipers, etc. in my car, so it wouldnt be a concern, just to need to make sure its a possibility. Btw, sorry for jacking the thread, I am having a hard time locating the answer.

That pretty much says it... if it won't go one way, it most likely won't go the other.

I know the 68 is a two piece and have read the some people think the speakers and defrost vents are in different locations. I have a 67 and not concerned about vent and speaker locations, just want to know if I slip the coverlay onto my dash frame, will the contours be the same?

The ’68 dash is unique to that model year.
However, some early ‘68s had the ’67 type, particularly 912s.

That said, I suspect there can be some switching to both earlier and possibly later dash pads.
For later (’69->) versions, the major difficulty is in the larger defroster vents and early center fresh air vent.

Pictures please.

Best,
Grady
