Cigarette lighter outlet

My plugs for GPS and phone do not make firm contact with the cigarette outlet in my 87 911. Seems like the outlet is slightly too big. Does anyone have ideas how to
correct it.

Or, do what I did and buy a rectangular 3- 4 outlet adapter with usb from flea bay for the same price. The side contact prongs on the one I picked up fit the larger diameter lighter outlet. I can plug in multiple devices too. I used a 3"x1" stip of self adhesive velcro to mount under my ashtray. Easy to remove and put in glovebox. (no console in my car, but would work in there just as well and be hidden too if placed well).

You can also try looking under the passenger seat and if there is an old blauplunkt amp under there that is not being used and forgot about, pull it and use the Positive and the ground that is there for 1 of those quad adapters and wire it in with a switch so you can kill the power, the amp was always hot and is fused at the fuse block, below the block, if your car came with an amp.

Or you can bow out the ears on the plug to your GPS and they should make contact ..

You can find " euro " adapters around also .. basically a sleeve that slide in and takes you from the slightly larger euro to the standard .. I got a used lighter housing out of one of my old cars and cut it up to make a sleeve .. just watch the bottom that you don't connect the center + to the outer piece - ...

A guy I know wrapped the plugum with masking tape to get the right tightness. He says it's worked fine for many years. Ah yes, it's an '87 too.
