Hi all. I've got a '74 911S Targa. I'm replacing the right side manual window regulator. The problem I'm running into is that the new part is different from the old part.
Here's a pic... ![]() My Haynes manual shows the old part, but my 101 Projects book shows the new part. Also, every parts place online shows the new part. I ordered from Pelican of course. ![]() Is this an upgrade? I also don't have any holes in my door for the two parts I've circled. I'm assuming I'm going to be doing some drilling. But before I get crazy, I figured I'd ask you experts for help..heh...cause I'm still a newbie at all this. Thanks in advanced for your help. It's greatly appreciated. ![]() |

It is an upgrade...the original has a weak link...the upgrade screw holes are in the P books...Tech. Bull. #7 or in WKD 481 021 vol 6,group 8, pages 4.6-3/2..the most fun about the whole install is that the original upgrade screw holes have been upgraded...I think PANO did an article on it also...Maybe you can call Pelican and allow them the entertainment...I got the correct numbers somewhere but I can't help you now...Ron

Thanks Ron. Now it's all starting to make sense. I'll start tracking down some more info.

I was considering replacement of my regulators...but now I think I'll just fix the old ones.
Mine have a problem with the pivot that the sector gear turrns on. I took the old ones out...and it appears that all is needed is a lathe turned piece with a slot in one end and flats on the other. I think I will do a couple in stainless steel and see how it turns out. Bob
