Sloppiness / knocking sound from transmission 915

Hi
I don't know a lot about transmissions.

When I take my foot off the accelerator in any of the lower gears, for example second gear, there is sloppiness / knocking sound. Almost as if there is play in the driveshafts. I have no idea if it's the clutch, drive shafts or the trani itself....

When the clutch is warm, there is also a faint knocking sound at idle coming from the clutch. It stops if I depress the clutch. Are these issues interrelated?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Bump

Can anyone assist? The slop is alarming and I don't want something more sinister to happen....

First adjust the shift linkage to ensure that part if the system is taken out of the equation. The tech article here on the site on how to do this is excellent and it's easy and fast to do.

This probably isn't your problem. But always start with the easy and simple stuff. It will also help you get to know the system.

I'd post a link to the tech article but on my phone right now. Seek and you will find. . .

Good luck and don't forget to read all the other tech stuff on trannies while you're checking out that article.

More low-hanging fruit: check your CV joints and the bolts that hold them in place.

Another low hanging fruit: check you engine and transmission mounts for wear or looseness.

Okay will look there. Do you happen to know the torque value by any chance? Cheers
