Those look great. How many track laps do you have on those wheels? I have wanted to get some exactly like that for my '84 DE car, but I haven't found any reports that say they are safe for the track.

jager911 11-15-2012 08:19 AM

Thanks, I had the same concerns and did some searching on Pelican first. First season on them this year, did about 10 track days so far, typically 4 sessions per day in Instructor groups. I bought them after someone else on Pelican reported using them on track for 3 years with no issues. Yes, they're cast but I ran cast ATS cookie cutters for years on another 911 and I have cast ROH 17" as well. Of course, forged is better.

Tell us more!

That is of course if the company Jongbloed is okay with any progress on it going public. I understand companies sometimes don't want to let out such information until sales.

Sounds good though.

Take care!

GaryR 11-17-2012 06:50 AM

No more to tell at this point, but I did make Ryan aware of this thread during our exchange and he he said the reception to the new "Jongbloed Fuchs" to everyone he has spoken to has been exceptionally good. I'm glad my need isn't immediate so I can watch this play out, and the more choices out there the better!

Those look good also, at $900 (US) per wheel plus frieght/tax they are competitive with the Fikse/Zuffs.

When, from what cores, and what was the final cost? I don't believe he is a feasible alternative anymore.. and who wants wheels bolted together carved out of 30+ year old cores?

uptheorg 04-01-2013 07:38 AM

GaryR, I'm not sure what you mean by feasible -- maybe they aren't affordable at $592 plus cores?

They are built using 16 inch cores -- the P2's are not bolted together as far as I know. I can't argue about the risks of using older cores except to say that several of his clients are club racers . . .

Here's the link to the webpage for these wheels which shows the prices:

If anyone has any first-hand experience, please post your thoughts and comments!

Please note I am NOT a metallurgy expert, nor pretend to be. My knowledge of metallurgy and structural engineering is about zero.

Note to moderators: I have been told it may be possible to update my original post with the text in this post. If you can, thanks! :)

This is what I've gathered so far, just from reading (I have no experience with any of them, that's why I'm requesting your comments!):

Otto Fuchs (the original): Only made in late offsets right now with the 17". Otto Fuchs

Zuffenhaus (Fikse): Zuffenhaus and Fikse: Specialty Series: Performance & Race Wheels

TruDesign: Donor centers. (Thanks jackb911!) True Design Wheel

Lindsey Racing: I have read the donor centers can fail since the old center isn't as strong as all the new hardware. LINDSEY WHEELS at LINDSEY RACING - Your Porsche Performance Parts Center

Cip1: Note the different available bolt patterns. (Thanks ernie9944!) 911 FUCHS STYLE REPLICA WHEELS

Alarcon: Details? (Thanks Zuluracerx!)

Melbourne, Australia: Unknown company. details? website? (thanks mothy!)

Other: Using a Fuchs center and somebody elses barrels, such as BBS (thanks lindy 911!)

I do realize some of these are reportedly not suitable for the track or hard driving.

I have no affiliation with any and all of these companies. I cannot attest to strength of any of these wheels or if they fit your car. This is up to you to research.

There is no specific order to the list.

Thanks to all for chiming in!!!!!

Be safe, have a good evening!

Cheers

I'm very happy with my Linea Corse/Rota Fox wheels, 17"x7.5" ET35 (225/45-17) and 17"x9" ET16 (255/40-17) on my narrow body Carrera. However, the rims are very heavy, I think the fronts are 25lbs and the rears are 28lbs. They look great and work fine for the street. I have 22mm spacers on all four wheels to fill out the fenders.
I built the car for the track, so there I will use Group 4 race wheels, 15"x8" ET23 (plus spacers?) and 225/50-15, and for the rear 10"x15" ET5 with 275/35-15. I have 930 brakes just to be able to fit the 15" wheels. This rim/tire combo is half the weight of the 17"-ones!!!
