Buying this 911

Hi Guys,

After weeks of searching for the right 911 i think my mind has been made up.

Its a 1987 911 Targa sc if im correct.

Though before final go ahead i need to find out exactly what motor is in this car,The owner claims its a 3.0 turbo motor.

The car has about 140 000 KILOMETERS on the clock, the interior is in superb condition with a few very minor details that may need attention.
The paint work is in Excellent condition, the owner says he had fitted a new gearbox from Holland which has a 8.2.2 Ratio, can somebody perhaps shed light on this?

The Vin is :9117610345

Engine Nr: 6390248

I will take the car for a drive once im 100% sure what motor it has.Otherwise it looks great and starts on the turn.

Kindly Confirm which 911 exactly.

Regards,

Ash

I had a look at the motor, though this is my 1st Porsche so i couldnt really tell.

Do the Turbo motors have the intercooler mounted above the motor?

Coz this one didnt.

the front valence (where the foglights are) doesn't look right for an '87. The 84-89 carreras all had their foglights integrated into the valence. The one pictured looks to be from an earlier sc.

Also, the vents on your dashboard appear to predate the updated look introduced in 1986.

Strongly suspect you're looking at a pre-1984 911 sc.

why "sc", 911 SC ended in ~83, this is sounding a bit sketchy at this point, need picture of motor, if it is a conversion from NA motor to turbo, I would be very cautious.

VIN number says it's a 1977 Carrera 3.0 Targa. This is consistent with the gauges, dash and fog lights. They are desirable with the correct engine. However this car seems to have quite a few things that arent right.

Engine number is for a 1969 911S 2.0L

Walk away from that car......no sorry run!

Everything on it looks "wrong". It has not been owned by a Porsche enthusiast, well maybe someone with really bad taste and judgement.

Good advice above, if you are still there please respond so we can sleep at night. Considering your mechanical and Porsche knowledge I propose this is not a good car for you... to say mildly.

Targa bar should not be painted body colour, Wrong Door Panelsd(RS Version), wrong wheels.

I would keep looking for a better car.

Jees-

Just spoke to the owner,He will pull out the registration papers tonight and call me back.

The thing is the papers could also say its a 1987 model as it may have been imported into South Africa that year.

In case the message is not getting across, I suggest we are advising to disconnect from buying this car. It appears to be what I call a hodgepodge. Thank the owner for his time and wish him good luck in selling the car.

Don't buy that car. That not an 87. i don't see a turbo boost gauge on the tach. looks like it has dual exhaust but I would look under to see if it's tru dual. Those wheels are super ugly. The speedo looks like it only goes to 85mph. There is not even a short shift kit.

WALK AWAY.....
