Less brakes, more gas!

Milky Brake Fluid?
I was flushing the brakes in prep for a DE weekend. I'm switching from Motul to RS683 so I wanted flush out the system. When I held up a light to the drain hose I could see what looked like some milky stuff flowing along with the brake fluid. Not a lot, but a consistent ribbon of something. I could not tell what color it was since the hose is grungy. No air bubbles, though. I went through a whole bottle of RS683 trying to get it all out. It really only made an appearance at the rears. What is it? Water? Oil? I am not sure I got it all out, but I tried. The Motul was about a year old.

Probably water. Flush the system out really well.

That's what I am assuming it is, but prior to putting the Motul I was flushing the brake system 3-4 times/year for the previous 2 years... which means it must have collected in a year? Seems off especially since some cars don't change their fluids but once every 10-20 years... That Motul is not cheap either! Supposed to be a really good fluid so ...
I guess I'm saying I'm stumped as to where it would have come from... Old seals?

brake fluid is very hydroscopic.. it will attract water from anyplace possible. I've never had a problem, but i change my fluid after every 2 DE's or after every Race weekend so i'm a bit retentive on that front. I would suggest that you use a motive pressure bleeder, push out all the old fluid with it (no new in it). Then run a bottle or 2 of the cheap stuff through the system with the motive again to just flush out any stuff, then blow clean again and then re-fill with what ever fluid you choose.
