Hi guys, I am looking for 3 templates to drill holes for the passenger door side mirror, front bumper valance and carrera tail on the engine lid. Car is a '79 911 SC Euro. Anybody that can help, I don't want to start drilling lots of holes in the wrong places and a garage will obviuosly charge a few hours to do all this as they will want to do the installation. Thanks all,

You really don't need a template for the front spoiler and rear wing. I did both last week on my 1985 Targa. Look at the recent thread "Deck Lid" dated 4/30, started by AirCooledExcellence. It describes how to install the rear wing. Just center the middle front bolt hole on the wing to the center front bolt hole that held on the air grille. Bolt it down. It is easy to then eyeball whether or not the wing is straight across the lid, you can even measure it in a few places to make sure. Then, make a mark for a bolt hole on each of the ear pieces to the right and left of the center bolt hole. Drill them out making the holes a bit oversize so that you can shift the wing a bit to get it straight. At that point the wing should be centered and straight. With the wing straight and firmly attached to the lid by the three front bolts, use a marker to mark the position of the other bolt holes. I should have mentioned this earlier but the job is a lot simpler if you remove the lid from your car. If you remove the lid don't forget to mark the position of the right and left arms that the lid is attached to. This will make it easier to get the lid back on in approxmitely the same position as before. With respect to the front spoiler, just start at one side. Make a cardboard template that outlines the end of the spoiler, marking the position of the two protruding screws. Put the template on the valance so that the upper edge of the spoiler will be about 1/8" below the black rubber trim piece at the top of the valance. Using the template, mark and drill the two holes and attach. Then, it is just a matter of marking the position of each bolt hole on the underside of the valance. Drill one hole at a time and fit the bracket and nut before you go to the next one. It helps to have the front end jacked up and a drill with an angle attachment is handy. It really isn't too difficult. The main problem is that some of the holes you drill may be a bit off and it could be difficult to get the bolt properly screwed in. The solution is to use a round file to enlarge any hole that might be a bit misplaced.
