Brake pad choice
I've tried a few searches and come up with zip.
I have a very stock 74 used as a daily driver but want more out of the brakes. I've had pad fade on a very long down hill run and at that time, also a bit of pulsation in the pedal. I think my dad just ran the stock textar pads. Is there a preference for Pagid R4-s or EBC Yellow Stuff?? Are they comperable?? What are the trade offs. I will get more air to the fronts, eventually, but one caliper is sticking, so i thought i would rebuild both and install new pistons and pads. Mired in ignorance, once again, chris |

I ran the Textar's and was quite happy on the street and even ran a bunch of DE's
I tend to overheat them now for DE so I switched to Padig Blacks but they SUCK for street use! (very very noisy) I suggest you look into your brake fluid too - I cant imagine brake fade on a steep hill...I run 30 minutes at 125 mph and hard braking without issues so if they still "fade" try new fluid also try down shifting and using a little of the motor to keep you slow - I drive down a long steep hill to work everyday and I dont even hit the brakes but one good slow right before the spot the cop likes to hang out....otherwise I just use a lower gear and let it roll just thoughts

Rebuilding should fix your sticking caliper. You don't need new pistons unless the old ones are pitted. Pulsating brake pedals usually indicate warped rotors.
