Heater control red handle removal

I got new red handles for the heater controls for my 911sc from our host here. I plan on swapping them tonight. Any magic for removing the old ones? They are real faded and they do seem to be on there real tight. Thanks

They just pull straight off, give them a healthy tug and a little wiggle.

The biggest trick is to not smash your elbow into the dash while pulling them off.

They just pull straight off.

Set up a Visegrips to have a 1/8" opening. Put the opening over the shaft it just below the knob and tap up with a hammer- this will allow you to pop the knob off without punching yourself in the face when the knob finally lets loose.
