Engine Drop - 101 projects V Bentley
Just completed my first engine drop on '84 3.2 cabrio
All went well with lots of helpfull research from this place. I did have one minor heart attack; when pulling the engine and gearbox back the whole car was rocking on the axle stands. :eek Checked for obstructions, nothing. Check interior and the gear lever was trying to escape through the radio. the 4mm allen screw in the gear selector arm was loose but still fitted. Pulled it right out and pulled gear lever rearwards - bingo! - the whole beauty dropped right out. PHEW ![]() I had made my own checklist form 101 projects and the Bentley Carrera manual. Whenever there was a difference between them I would use the Bentley procedure - WRONG. Bentley says "loosen the grub screw using a 4mm allen key" Wayne says "remove the srew" Should have beleived you wayne. Any way thanks to all you guys for the tips and inspiration to allow me to do the job with confidence alone. In particular whoever came up with the engine dolly idea, those 188mm high castors were not cheap but they sure saved my life.
