Just bought the Gunsten Gas Tester. Ive searched and read almost all the posts regarding CO adjustment. I'm still a little confused, since some posts didn't mention which 911 they were adjusting. One post recommended 5-6% at 3,000 RPM. I set my gas tester to 2% as per instructions. Hooked the gas tester to my car and adusted screw until it was 5.5% at 3000 RPM. When the car is at idle 1000 RPM Gas tester reads 9.1%. This seems like it may be much to high. Can any on confirm the correct settings for my car. I live in Miami Florida with no emissions. the CIS system is adjusted at idle. 3.5% works well on pretty much all of them. the 3000RPM thing you read was for mechanical injection part load.

Thanks for your quick reply. Thats what I suspected for MFI but wasn't sure. I'll go and reset it to 3.5%. Eric

There should be a label on your fan housing that gives you the testing parameters. Mine says to disconnect and plug the smog pump and test at idle. I think it specified 1.5-2.0%.
I'm thinking that John Walker is right about most of them running better at a slightly richer setting, though. Mine ('75 911S) tends to cough a little and backfire once or twice on a cold start, although it runs fine after the first five seconds or so. I'm thinking of making it a little richer. |
