Pelican Parts BBS Track Day (Please Read)

Hi Everyone, I'm in the process of setting up a Track/Education event at Willow Springs Raceway. This event would most likely be on a Monday and cost roughly around 200 dollars. It would include several Very good Instructors,(not Me) Lunch and a T-shirt. Safety is obviously number one and there will be an ambulance and corner workers at the event. I will also have people there to tech your vehicle prior to going on the track. Groups would be grouped according to experience and there will not be open passing.

I would like to limit the event to the family and friends of this BBS and have 91.1 % Porsches and to limit the number to around 50 cars. My Goal is to have an event where everyone kinda knows each other and even guys who may not ordinarily track their cars will come out and give it a go. Like our R Gruppe motto everyone will be required to check their ego at the front gate. I think it would be alot fun. I will go into more details at a later time.

What I need of you is to get an Idea of how many people would be seriously intersted in attending. As a bonus, I'm planning on arranging joy rides in Black Beauty for those who can make it to the event. Please respond here or e-mail me personally.

Sounds cool. If you can set it up on a Monday that follows a weekend Porsche event (say POC) that would be even better for those of us driving a distance.

Are you thinking of the Big Track or the Streets? I'm in regardless. Perhaps we can manage a group rate at some motel/hotel for those of us who will have to travel.

I would be interested in attending depending on what Monday it may be. I find myself out of the area on Monday's so with enough lead time I could work it out. Ofcourse for a chance to ride in BB, I would just have to make it happen. Thanks for efforting this.

I have never been on the big track, are you going to have it set up so that us rookies can run safely and stay out of the way of the big boys? I get every other Monday off, so this will work perfectly for me :-)

Michael, what a great idea. I've never tracked my Porsche and this would be an ideal opportunity for a novice like me. Plus, it's always great to meet some new Pelican people. It's a drive for me but I will be there if you pull this off. Thanks........

The event will be set up so all different skill levels should feel comfortable. There will be a run group especially for the first time and beginner drivers, As well as classroom and In car instruction. This will be different then a POC event in that there will be no timing or Cup racing.

Again, If you are even remotely interested, let me know.

Feel free to E-mail me with any questions or concerns.

Are we talking about the Streets or the big track? Never been on the streets, but whichever one it is, I'd love to see how well the 912 runs.

Additional Info

I've been getting very positive feedback. The plan as of now is to have it on the big track at Willow Springs. This event will be at the very least Two months from now. When I have a date in concrete, I'll ensure that everybody has plenty of time to arrange their schedules.

If you have Friends that have have Porsches and they would like to participate, please tell me that as well when you send me the info. Again, I would like to limit the number of people to about 50. That would limit the size of the run groups and ensure maximum time on the track for everyone.
